Haste Reh Jaoge hits the stage at the Junction Theatre in Alserkal, Dubai on Saturday December 21st 2019 at 7:30pm.
True to its name, “Haste Reh Jaoge” (“It’ll leave you laughing”) is a Hindi and Urdu play that will – you guessed it – leave you cracking up till you’ve got tears rolling down your cheeks this coming weekend 🙂

I met with the director and cast last night at fairy-light and potted plant-filled “Yard” in artsy Alserkal. Director Saif Khan, a veteran of eight years on the Dubai theatre scene, and I had grabbed a quick chai from Project Chaiwala, as we waited for his ensemble cast of fourteen intriguingly different characters to arrive. Saif shared how he had originally intended to cast eleven actors but wrote in extra roles after meeting them during auditions and up-ed the riotous show to include their personalities.
“Haste Reh Jaoge” follows a crazy day that changes a web series writer named Rahil’s life. Characters in Rahil’s neighborhood, Panauti Ganj (inspired by Bur Dubai) include many familiar faces playing a Haryanvi playboy, a Pakistani beauty salon owner, an air hostess, a middle-aged poet, a loud Gujarati mother scouting for a groom for her daughter, a quirky Marathi doctor, an aspiring actress, a gym trainer, a paan-wala and many more.
Complete with an “item number,” this Saif-Tea First Production‘s comedy of errors play reminds me of Bollywood’s Priyadashani “Golmaal” variety of creations, so if you’re into slapstick dramedies this one is for you!
I’m really excited to see this show with my friends and family — especially because just meeting with Saif’s high energy squad left me so enthusiastic and cheerful! Can’t wait for lots of hasee in “Haste Reh Jaoge”. I think it’s going to be great for the festive vibe ahead! 😀 Before you leave this post, do hear Sarlaben Patel’s video request seeking a nice Gujju son-in-law and more of the characters in the videos below!
